Monday:
Good day to all. Please read the entire wiki before you get started today.
Just a few reminders from over the weekend.
-If you have not already added your Vimeo link to the shared document from your sustainable agriculture or aquaculture please do, so I can get those graded.
-Also over the weekend you were to take notes and answer the questions on both of the chapters below. Please email me the file or an image of both your notes and your chapter review questions by 11:59 tonight.
Today we are going to review and focus on Forestry, Rangeland, and Mining as land use practices. I want to present Urbanization to you on Friday when I am on campus. It is not often that we do 'worksheets' or 'study guides' in this class. But every once in a while changing it up is good. So, today you will be doing exactly that. With the information from the chapters as well as personal research you will need to complete the following document. It will be do at the end of class and must be emailed to me before lunch for full credit. You may collaborate with your peers, but you must work fast with this assignment.
For your homework today please watch the following video and read the PDFs to help you respond to the following prompts in short answers. Canada's Forest ManagementVideo Canada's SMP PDF
Here is the question sheet you need to download.
The rest of the week. There will be our 4th APES Study Session this Friday from 4-6pm. I have a meeting in Madera on Thursday after school, so we cannot have it then. Also on Friday, please where comfortable walking shoes because we will be going out into the field for some lab exercises with rangeland forage production. I look forward to seeing you then.
Wednesday:
Hey gang. Great work on Monday. I know I gave you a lot to do, but it seems you rose to the challenge. For today I have changed the plan a little bit. Since we will be doing an outside lab on Friday we are going to get started with Urbanization today. Like all units we cover, you would get several undergraduate, master's, or doctorate degrees with this subject. So, it is a little difficult for me to curb back just how much we will be doing.
So, like Monday, you will be doing personal research and working on some study and review material. But first, I am curious to see what you already know from past or personal experiences. Please download the following document and fill it out to the best of your ability. We will revisit this at the end of the unit.
Up next you will have to work on a research and note-taking study guide. Download the document for your use. This will be due at the beginning of next class period.
Friday:
Good day to all, and Happy Friday. I hope you are doing well. I do not want to rub it in our faces, but I had my best weekend of the year in Tahoe this past weekend. Not only did I get to spend it with my beautiful wife, but I also go to ski on five fresh inches of powder at Sierra at Tahoe. There was nobody there. I had the entire place to myself and skied until my legs were on fire. It was epic to say the least. I pray that won't be the last snow storm we have this season.
As for today, we will review all the work you have been doing for me. By the way, thank you for kicking ass. But first we have a lab to do. We will be collecting data and calculating forage production for our native land by doing some plot clippings. You will collect and record data on paper and digitally so turn in your calculations.
If we have time we will review your responses to the study guides and worksheets you have put together over the week. Lots of new resources for you guys to cover and deal with while I was gone, so I just want to make sure you are comfortable with the material.
For the weekend you have an online quiz and a take home test to complete. You are welcome. The test will be due Tuesday when you return to class. You will need to turn it in to Mr. Lopes. As for the online quiz, please screenshot your results and email them to me.
